Bacon Appointed to Key Agriculture Subcommittees WASHINGTON – Yesterday, Rep. Don Bacon (NE-02) was appointed to the Subcommittee on Livestock, Dairy, and Poultry and the Subcommittee on Conservation, Research, and Biotechnology by the House Committee on Agriculture. “We are the number one beef state and I’m glad to serve on the Subcommittee that works livestock issues,” said Bacon. “Further, I love to champion our universities and the great research they do on Agriculture, and serving on the Conservation, Research and Biotechnology Subcommittee will enhance my voice for research.” The Livestock, Dairy, and Poultry Subcommittee has jurisdiction over policies, statutes, and markets relating to all livestock, poultry, dairy, and seafood, including all products thereof; the inspection, marketing, and promotion of such commodities and products; aquaculture; animal welfare; grazing; and related oversight of such issues. The Conservation, Research, and Biotechnology Subcommittee has jurisdiction over policies and statutes related to resource conservation; pest and disease management, including pesticides; bioterrorism; adulteration and quarantine matters; research, education, and extension; biotechnology; and related oversight of such issues. The House Committee on Agriculture has six Subcommittees with members appointed every two years.
